Our Story: A Legacy of Care and Community
Creighton Lodge was born out of determination, compassion, and community spirit. In 2009, when it was rumored that the Health Region would no longer operate the local senior facility, a small group of Rural Municipality councilors refused to let the Lodge’s legacy fade. They discovered that the RMs who had built the Lodge in 1959 still held the right to reclaim it—and so began a grassroots effort to preserve a cherished home for local seniors. On July 1, 2010, Creighton Lodge officially came under RM ownership with just 28 residents.
Creighton Lodge is owned and operated by The RM of Estevan No.5, RM of Cambria No.6, RM of Cymri No.36, RM of Coalfields No.4, RM of Benson No.35 with the support of the City of Estevan. 52 seniors currently reside at the lodge.

What followed was a remarkable transformation—from restoring the shuttered Valley Wing to building a vibrant community where over 50 residents now live in comfort and connection. Through tireless fundraising, generous local support, and shared vision, we’ve expanded our space, added a 2,000 sq. ft. lounge for social gatherings, and built a state-of-the-art kitchen to serve both residents and seniors living independently in the community. Today, Creighton Lodge stands as a living testament to what a caring community can achieve—a place where seniors are not only cared for but celebrated.
